Heddendorp starts at Duathlon National Championship in Oberursel

Daniel Heddendorp of Team Roseversand Bocholter WSV takes part in the German Elite Duathlon Championships this Sunday. In the upper Taunus the best duathletes and triathletes will compete for the coveted title of the German champion.
Right at the start of the race 4 laps at 2.5km around the old town of Oberursel have to be passed.
Here Heddendorp will try to keep contact with the leading group and to build on its strong performance two weeks ago in Mettmann at the NRW Championship.
"The first running part can already be critical. Here I have to take care that the distance to the front will not be too large, but try to save as much energy as
possible for the hard bike course. "
The
bike circuit is characterized by varying subsoil; in addition to asphalt especially some cobbled passages exacerbate the athletes’ race.
After the first 10 miles on foot, it goes on with the bike; a
challenging 9 km course that satisfies the demands of a DM has to be passed four times.
With cobblestone sections in the historical center and numerous short climbs, the bike part can already drop a preliminary decision.
For the grand final next to the cycling, the athletes have to run more 2 laps of 2.5 miles until they reach the finish after all in all 51 kilometers.
A good time is primarily important for Heddendorp. Maybe he
can spring a surprise as an unknown factor. Among the others the current Duathlon European and German Champion will stand clocklike at 1 pm at the starting line.
"I'm really looking forward to the race and I am highly motivated to beat my performance of Mettmann. The training went well the last few weeks and I am very optimistic. My coach is also participating in the race. Perhaps I am able to put some pressure on him as the former Amateur Duathlon World and European champion. "
